A few weeks ago I was trying to clean our guest bedroom when I accidentally took a nap. You know those kind of naps when you lay down just for a second to check your phone & than wake up like 4 hours later to your husband standing over you saying good morning. Yah. Those naps. Well, this particular day Mr. LMB was laughing as he woke me up & told me he couldn’t find me until he heard some snoring… which was coming from the dogs by the way, not me. & he happen to find me & the pups snuggled in the guest bedroom napping. While I was napping he built us a new dining room table. When I say that he is my better half, I mean it! He has been meaning to make us a new table for some time now & we couldn’t find the perfect legs or we couldn’t decide on what we wanted it to look like. We both finally decided that we just needed a new table so he decided to experiment & if we wanted a new one we could simply put the one we built in our booth. Sometimes when you over-think things you can get overwhelmed & than the project never gets done. Mr. LMB built us this super simple farmhouse table & I’m in love. Here is a few quick photos I took of it in our dining room today. For now we placed a bench on one side of the table, but we will be replacing it soon with another one that fits better. We are also on the hunt for two end chairs for the table as well. Needless to say the space is far from finished, but this is what it looks like today with the newly built farmhouse table…

I love the simplicity of the table & the two tone stain with white paint. I painted the bottom in Maison Blanche Ivory & Mr. LMB stained the top in Minwax special walnut. After the paint was dry I used sandpaper to distress the bottom of the table & then I used Maison Blanche clear wax to seal the bottom of the table.  I really want to add a chunky bench & replace this bench we just had around the house & placed there. I also want to add two upholstered end chairs to the table as well. I think the simple table allows for me to add all of those things in this small space. I’m hoping the new bench also tucks under the table so it will add more space to the room as well. To see how Mr. LMB made this table you can see all the details on his blog [here].

We are so excited about our new DIY farmhouse table & whenever Mr. LMB builds us something it is just extra special & adds so much meaning to our home.
