The transition from military life to civilian life has be a long weird journey. It hasn’t been a bad journey or even really a hard one, just different. Our journey really started a year ago this month when we sold our NC home & moved into our NC rental. That’s when our journey home to Michigan really started because we cut our big tie to North Carolina, our home we owned. That’s also when it got more difficult for us to do larger projects like build furniture. Yes we did build a few pieces in our rental like our round coffee table [here], our DIY entertainment center [here], & a DIY shutter bench [here], but we didn’t have a garage or a good place to build furniture so Mr. LMB was slowed down a lot by that. Then when we moved here to Michigan he was thrown right into a job that was a little more demanding of his time & college which slowed down his furniture building as well. Now that the weather here in Michigan is warming up & we are getting into the swing of things he is starting to get back into furniture building & we are both so excited! Recently he was contacted by Murphy-Goode wine to try their Home Front wine that supports veterans, like Mr. LMB, with giving some of the proceeds to Operation Home Front. Of course he was excited to try the wine, but also to blog to bring awareness to such an amazing cause. This inspired him to build a piece of furniture for our home to display our wine & to use daily in our dining room. I’m so thankful for Mr. LMB’s talent & for this beautiful DIY simple dining room buffet he built for our cozy little home. I love my veteran & all he does & has done & this small buffet is just one of those things…

Isn’t it simply lovely? It’s a simple piece of furniture that happens to make a big impact on this small space of ours. These legs were antique finds of ours & he built the dining room buffet around them. What’s really cool about this piece? It’s so versatile! It would make a great entryway table, sofa table, buffet, entertainment center, & so much more. For now we are using it as a buffet, but who knows what we will use it for in the future!

We styled the buffet for a little wine night filled with some good wine & some of our favorite eats like meats & cheeses. The dishes are all from Marshalls along with the wine glasses, glass cloche, the greenery, the candle, & the towels. The planter & wine rack are from Home Goods, The sign is from House of Belonging, the basket is from Target, the burlap & metal basket are antique finds, & of course the wine is from Murphy-Goode & it’s the Home Front red. Some of the proceeds from the purchase of the wine helps supports veterans & I have always heard good things about the wine, but actually trying it for myself I am sold. A red wine I can actually get down with. Yes please! Mr. LMB & I love having wine nights with friends & on date nights in with each other so we were so excited to be stocked up for some wine nights to come all while helping Jose’s fellow brothers.
