About two years ago or so.. maybe even three, I found a lovely antique beat up drop leaf table somewhere in the back woods of North Carolina. This table has been in 3 houses of ours & I loved it in it’s raw wood form. I always felt like it had a story. With every scratch, water stain, & dent it told a story of the homes it had been in before. We have used it as a sofa table, entryway table, & a desk at one point. It’s a versatile & lovely old piece. Unfortunately we just don’t have the place for it in our Michigan house & so I decided to paint it & put it in my booth. I took some photographs of it in the parking lot at Painted Farmgirl where my booth is today of the finished little painted table because of course I wanted to share it with you guys. It’s a chippy little drop leaf table & I kind of love how it turned out..

To get this look I first put two layers of Maison blanche chalk paint in Sugar cane. I didn’t worry about covering the entire table perfectly because I knew I was going for a super worn look so there were for sure lighter areas than other areas. After the paint was dry I took an electric sander to the entire piece to get that chippy shabby look. I used a different sander this time than I was used to so I wasn’t super happy with how it turned out, it’s just different than what I was used too. After I sanded the whole piece I sealed the piece with a light brown wax. That’s it.. so easy & it completely changed the whole table & gave it a new [old] life!

Of course I forgot to get photos of the table completely open with the leaves, but you get the idea. It’s kind of rough taking photos in a parking lot, but I made it work with some burlap & plants that I got from inside the store. This piece is now in my booth for sale & I hope it finds a lovely home to live in. What do you think of the chippy little table?
