In every furniture makeover post I do I always say how I’m so impressed and amazed by the power of paint. Well, this post is no different. Seriously you can do amazing things with paint! Today I wanted to show you how I brought a pretty “blah” bookshelf & made it “ta-da!” Ok.. that was a really lame way of saying that, but you get the picture. I transformed an old run-down bookshelf into something that you would actually want to display in your house. Well, maybe you wouldn’t want to, but pretend you do just to make me happy.
I love how this little bookshelf turned out! It went from super boring to super fun. When I picked it up, it looked something like this except we added legs to it before we got ready to paint it…
& after adding some legs [from Home Depot], painting the back of the bookcase & the legs Maison Blanch french blue, the shell of the bookcase Maison Blanche Oyster, & leaving the shelves the natural wood…
I asked on my Facebook page what color I should have the shelves be. Either oyster or wood. I think oyster won, but in the end I wanted to experiment with leaving the shelves wood & I’m happy with my decision! I think it adds warmth & makes it a really unique piece. What do you think with my choice? I lightly distressed the piece with a light sandpaper & I sealed the bookshelf with Maison Blanche clear wax & the piece was complete!
