You said that I’d laugh, not laughing….brilliant solution with the chairs until you get built-ins! We hide our TV in a large armoire and I still love it. These sliders are so smart and not your typical barn doors! Glad your marriAge survived it, ha! ~Kim

  6. Gigi Harlan says:

Thats really cool! I love the patina you created!

  7. sarah says:

I love this project!!! So unique. Wondering, where do you source your old doors? And did you add chalk paint to it / how did you get that cool, old looking finish?? Thanks!!!

  8. This is genius Liz! I love those doors and the mix of rustic and industrial : ) Pinning!

  9. Emmie Capson says:

I love this! I already showed this to my husband and said “We’re doing this” 🙂

  10. Jen says:

Wow – this looks great! It’s functional and pretty! Great idea. Putting this one on the honey-do list!

  11. Kate says:

How much would a project like this typically cost? Looks fantastic ! Been wanting to make a sliding barn door but the hardware alone is $150!

  12. Lauren says:

J’adore! I think it’s safe to say this is one of my favorite projects of yours ever! The texture on those doors is beautiful. Amazing, Liz!

  13. I love everything about this! Beautiful!

Where’s the white canister/jar that’s on the bottom shelf of the console by the books from?

  14. Jennifer W says:

    I love that idea!
May try that project one weekend!
    Looks great!
    Jenn~

  15. Alma says:

yes girl! I love it: beauty and function! And the best part is when it opens up, it fits the space perfectly! And hey, I see you kept the leggy shelf! Looks great! Now I’m wondering what’s in front of the window now?? Btw, I have been looking high and low for those armchairs recently. What’s the biggest bummer is I almost bought them mid last year, but passed that day thinking it would still be around that weekend. Nope! All gone and its been hiding from me ever since!! LOL. Anyway, thanks for the share and I just have to say, you are just my fave, girlfriend!
    Alma

  16. Lisa Sraders says:

Liz, this is inspired! You know, I would put a picture or print at bit smaller than the tv cover on either side of it to balance out the rustic piece. When the doors are opened, you would just be hiding the pictures, so it would still look nice and neat! Just a suggestion…

    BLESSINGS!

  17. I LOVE this idea!!!!! I might have to borrow this idea for our next house! Great job Mr. LMB !!

  18. Anonymous says:

I think it would be a shame to take all of this down since it is so awesome and beautiful! What about doing rustic built in shelving just below? This is too awesome to just be temporary.

  19. This is such a great idea. I love the look of the doors……so barn like. This is great to hide those things that should only be seen if you want them to be seem. Love It>

  20. Jen Cooper says:

OMG Liz Marie I LOVE THIS!!!!! I love the way the tv is tucked into the nook is it next to the stairs? Love Love Love!
On a side notes, I have made and am in love with your laundry soap recipe. Love it! I want to do a blog post about it… but can’t find a way to contact you for permission to share!

    Love to hear from you!
    Jen C.

  21. Lisa A says:

That is just brilliant! I love it and I know it was worth what you went through to have come out so great! I wish I could do this type of thing but our TV is in a cabinet. 🙁 But if I ever need this type of thing for our TV I am going to use this idea! It looks so good in your little space! Great job!

  22. LizMarie says:

Hi Jen! Yes! this is a cove from the stairs to the wall. I love how it’s coming together. Thank you for your sweet comment. & Yes of course you can share a photo and link 🙂 I’m so glad you like the soap too!!! xx

  23. LizMarie says:

Oh no! I’m so sorry I must have said it wrong. This is not temporary at all. The chairs and setup are.. We are building a built in cabinet where the chairs are below the door. No worries!! xx

  24. LizMarie says:

Hey Sarah! The doors already looked like this.. isn’t that cool? I got the door at Painted Farmgirl in Hudsonville Michigan.. hope that helps! xx

  25. LizMarie says:

Oh my gosh! Great question. So the pipes were not expensive at all. Depending on what sizes you need. I forget how much we payed, but if you go to a store like home depot you can see what each pipe costs. Way cheaper than barn door hardware for sure!! xx

  26. LizMarie says:

You will never guess!! I actually picked that up at Bed Bath & Beyond when we lived in North Carolina a few months ago.. I love that little jar. It’s a white mason jar actually. xx

  27. LizMarie says:

Thank you so so much Alma!! haha I had to bring the leggy bookshelf out one more time before I sell the pretty little thing. For now it works great in that space. I have shopping regret all the time!! I know what you mean. I hope you find them again soon!! & thank you so so much for your sweet words about my post.. you made my night! Thank you!! xx

  28. This is such an awesome idea! I love everything about it! I’m sorry it was so hard to do, but I think your work was well worth it.

  29. Brittney says:

This looks so great! Definitely worth the sweat and tears! 🙂 I love your arm chairs. Would you mind sharing where you picked them up?

I love this idea! Have been trying to come up with a solution I like for covering our TV as well, and this may be it! Thanks for sharing. Also – LOVE the Jack Johnson lyric piece peeking out from the wall in these shots…can you tell me where you had it made?? (Sorry if you said somewhere and I’ve missed it!) Thanks!

  33. Jessica Wise says:

Love everything about this! Going to try to get my husband to build it for me! Could you tell me where your chairs and ottoman are from? I have been looking for some like these and I’m obsessed with your little ottoman/pouf. I would really appreciate it!

  34. Nikki says:

Where are those amazing chairs from?! Please email me

  35. brittany says:

Hi, so funny i just came across your IG and started following you, now i come across this on pinterest! My husband and i have been trying to find an affordable option to do this in our living room, love yours! My only concern, does it make noise when sliding on the pipe? All i imagine is an ear piercing screech from the metal on metal sliding lol.

It looks great. What a neat idea! When the doors glide over the Tv do the bolts hold the doors straight down or do you have to watch so they don’t tap against the TV?

I would suggest adding photos to the four squares in the barn door. I think (for me) it would make it more personal.

  41. carrie wright says:

Do the doors glide easily via the eye hooks? I’m looking for a solution for doors on a tv console. thinking this might work. but I’m a little concerned over how the “sliding” functions–does it take much effort to push the doors over the pipe when you open them up?

  42. it looks amazing. thanks for sharing good post.
