Last week Michaels had a sale that sucked me in. How many times have I said that? Too many to count! Anyways, the sale was a good one. The items I wanted were already 40% off plus they had an additional 20% off your entire order. Ummm yes please. So I walked my happy butt into Michaels to find some metal letters for our kitchen & as I layer out all the letters onto the floor I realized I was missing the “T” in “Kitchen” & I mildly freaked out. I looked on all the shelves & even asked the employees if they were going to get any more letters in. After learning that they might not, they told me that the Michael’s thirty minutes from my house had one so you know that I drove all the way out there to pick it up. Of course that Michaels has a Homegoods next to it so I HAD to stop there as well. The struggle is real. Anyways, I was so excited that I finally had my letter T to make my DIY industrial kitchen sign with & this past weekend I finally put it together. It’s super easy to make so I just had to share it with you guys.

Seriously cute right? Like I said, this was the easiest project ever & just added a fun element to the space above our sink. I think it adds that industrial farmhouse look & I’m of course on board with that. No pun intended. First I simply cut a board the size of the space above the sink that also fit all of the letters purchased at Michaels. I got lucky and the space was just big enough for the full word. Really lucky. I painted the board white, the same color as our wall behind the board, but you could paint the board any color you wanted. I also chose to mount the letters on a board first, but you could also just mount them directly to the wall if you feel like. Side note: I know I bought these letters that were already metal & ready to go, but you can find letters like this many places & also I have a tutorial [here] on how you can make your own.

Please excuse my nighttime cell phone photos, but that is when I do all my project right? I laid the letters out on the board as shown above, marked off the board with a pencil & made a few cuts so the board fit the letters perfect. After the board was cut & painted I placed screws in the board to hang the letters from. To hang the board on the wall I actually didn’t do much. The board was so tight between the trim that it squeezed tightly & secure in there. You could add a hanger to the back simply with any picture hanger system that you like. Hopefully this whole process made some sense. It was super easy & I think you need to make yourself a kitchen sign now!

I’m loving how our DIY metal letter sign came out & I think it adds a fun pop in our small kitchen. What do you think of it? We have a lot to do in our kitchen yet, but it’s so much fun being able to take our time in this house. The military life really always made us feel rushed because we might be moved at any time, but now we feel permanent & at home. It’s a really good feeling.
