There are moments in our marriage where I really just sit back and realize that I married the most perfect man. These moments happen more often than not & one day a few weeks ago when we were living in our rental one of those moments happened again. I was sitting there doing something crafty & Mr. LMB started painting a piece of wood & I asked him what he was going to make & he replied ” A Christmas reindeer sign.” Oh, ok.. haha it was the most random thing, but I just thought it was the cutest thing in the world. To us, creating is therapeutic & I’m sure the move was stressing us out that day so painting & creating something new helps get things off our minds. When he was done with the sign it was one of my new favorite Christmas decorations so I just had to blog it & show you.
See that little tree in front of the sign? I decorated it using Christmas gift tags & I love how it turned out. I already had the tags so it saved me money, & I think it turned out super cute. Just another little idea to decorate your trees if you were stumped like I was. Now, onto that cute little Christmas sign that Mr. LMB made.
Making the sign was super easy & the hardest part was the placement of the words. First he came up with the idea to list all of the reindeer names. He found a scrap piece of plywood in our basement & stained it with a dark stain. He then printed out all of the reindeer names with the silhouette machine to create stencils. After the stencils were all printed he placed them all on the board in order & used a paint brush to paint over the stencils with white. When the paint was dry he ripped the stencils up & voila all the reindeer names were on the board. We added a red boarder & a red period after the “rudolph” name {sad that I didn’t get it in any of the pictures, but it made the sign super cute}. To hang the sign we used a 3M strip which worked great especially because we were renting at the time.
Sorry about the crappy cell phone photos of the sign being made, but hey when inspiration strikes there is not always time to take great photos. We chose to hang the sign in our living room in our rental above the side table. I can’t wait to hang this sign in our new Michigan house & show you it in our new home.
Oh man, I just love this little sign that Mr. LMB made & I will treasure it for a long time just because he so thoughtfully made it for our Christmas decor. Any tips to recreate this if one does not have a silhouette machine ?
I love the projects my husband does around the house. That he is always thinking about what we need, or would like speaks volumes to me. He knows my love language involves a sander and a table saw 😉 I adore the sign and hope you enjoy it for many years to come!

I have a little reindeer trivia for your husband. Originally, the names were Dunder and Blitzem; somewhere along the line, Dunder changed to Donder and them to Donner; Blitzem changed to Blitzen.
So sometime over the next 100 years, he may have to repaint one or two of the names if they change again.

Yah! You can find letter stickers at the craft store or the hardware store & use those to trace. Or you could print out the letters on paper & trace with a carbon paper under it. I hope this helps!! xx
