Hi friends!! I have something exciting to share with you! So, last week I was getting my hair cut & Jose went to an antique store right around the corner from the salon while I was getting pampered. I got out of the salon & Mr. LMB told me that he had something really exciting to show me & that I needed it, but it would need a lot of work. I was immediately intrigued! He brought me over to the antique store & sure enough I fell in love. He found a large card catalog {I say it’s a card catalog because to be honest I don’t know what it is. It seems as if it was used in a garage for tools. If you know what it is, please let me know!} For now, it’s a large piece of furniture with a ton of lovely drawers, & I’m obsessed. Here is a little sneak peek I shared on Instagram when we brought the beast home from the thrift store…

I’m such a tease! Ok. So as many of you know we just moved into our new home & most of you know after moving you never want to move again. You almost promise yourself that you will never move another piece of furniture again. Well, two weeks later Mr. LMB lost his mind and found this piece for us. Bringing it home was AWFUL. It is so big, awkward, & heavy even with the drawers out. I joked that when we moved this piece is staying with the house. I kid! I’m never leaving it. At the same time, the price was a steal & it was really too unique to pass up. Here is where we set the new piece in the new house. It’s not going to stay here, but right now it’s in a hallway between the dining room, sun patio, & the living room….

Holy cow! Look at that lovely baby!! Now, the most exciting part to me? It needs a lot of work! As you can see from the photos there is a lot of damage {some of it may have happened while moving it into the house… shhhh!} A lot of the work will be messy & tedious, but so worth it. This piece of furniture is going to be a really fun journey & I wanted to take you on it! I also want your input along the way too. First things first.. cleaning it!

When we took it in the house I took out the murphy oil soap and really scrubbed this baby down. I went through two buckets of water and the solution mixture & both buckets had black water. Gross! I really love this cleaner & the reason I bought it was because my mom used to clean with it growing up & I trust my mom’s opinion, if she used it, it must be good! I picked it up right at Lowe’s & so far I’m super happy with it. I didn’t do a super thorough job with it, but I just wanted to get it clean enough before my parents got here so they didn’t think I was a crazy furniture hoarder. I will go back at it soon and do a super thorough job of cleaning it.

Here was the piece right when we brought it in the house. Full of dirt and nasty stuff. & after a wipe down with some Murphy Oil soap it’s looking a little like this…

Blogging about this has made me realize how much work this piece actually needs {structurally it needs a lot, thanks to Mr. LMB he is really wanting to do a lot of that} We ripped off all of the trim {not pictured} while we were at the store already because it wasn’t in good shape so we will be adding more trim. Also, I’m going to have to replace two of the handles. Ok, I could go on, but I want YOUR opinion. What would you do with this piece?
