I had shown it in our last house in a few posts in our kitchen, but I never shared how I painted it so I wanted to share that with you today. My DIY hand painted antique sign was inspired by home. Grand Rapids is home & Grand Rapids is where we will be come December this year. Seeing this sign everyday is getting me excited for the move & it’s a little piece of home in our North Carolina rental. The process to make this sign goes a little something like this…

I first painted my board a solid color {green}. After that I used my Silhouette to print out my letters in the font I chose & applied them to the dry painted board. Sticking them to the board the way I wanted them laid out was the hardest part for me. Lots of patience required! Once I had them on the board as I wanted them I used a pencil to trace the letters. After all the letters were traced I peeled the stickers up & painted the letters white. I outlined the white letters in black & added a white to the board as well. After all the paint was dry, I sanded the sign & sealed it with a dark wax to give it an antiqued look. A lovely antique sign in no time flat!
