We had this large empty wall in our living room that has slowly been transforming these past two years with different art, clocks, vintage windows, & other things to fill space, but I always knew I wanted a corner gallery wall here, I just never was brave enough to actually tackle the task because I was scared of damaging the walls. Most of you know that we will be putting our house on the market soon & the last thing I want to do is to put a hundred nail holes in the wall that I know I will have to fill later. My solution? 3M command strips! I was a bit skeptical at first, I mean you are telling me a sticker will hold my prized frames up on the wall? Well, I tried them first a few months ago in our master bathroom with some art & guess what? They are still hanging perfectly & there are no nail holes in our wall. I’m obsessed. After my Command strip discovery I finally got the guts to hang our  DIY corner gallery wall in the living room.

Ok, so I took these photos at night so please excuse the awful lighting. We do our best DIY projects at night when inspiration strikes so this happens a lot with us. Anyways, we usually go the traditional route of cutting out paper the size of the frames & hanging them {which we did to one to show you} but this time we wanted to try something new. We simply referenced the frame for the length and width that the ScotchBlue™™ Painter’s Tape had to be & put the tape on the wall where we wanted the frame. This gave us a visual to see if the frame would fit and look good in the space. After we were satisfied with the way the “tape frames” looked we used the 3M command strips to hang the frames with in “tape frame” & then removed the ScotchBlue™™ Painter’s Tape off the wall.

All the frames we used for the wall were collected over time. I had always dreamed of this wall so the frame collection started a while back & I love it that way because I wanted it to look very eclectic. Some of the frames needed a little makeover to fit in better like the gold oval frame that actually didn’t start out gold. I gave it a quick makeover with some rub n’ buff that you can find right at your local craft store. I used my  gloves from 3M™ Safety Products to protect my hands from the chemicals & I rubbed the gold onto the frame. After I had covered the entire surface of the frame, I buffed the gold with a paper towel & the frame was now looking perfect & fit in much better with all the other frames.

In order to make a corner gallery wall we went off a piece that was already on the wall {the Pallet deer head mount} We established the height of the gallery wall & where it starts by that piece. Yours will vary by your preference. The rest of the wall was trial and error to see what frames looked good where. The nice thing about using the 3M strips was that we could adjust the frames height with out creating new holes. Tip: be sure to have a small level on you for hanging the frames straight. If you don’t have a small level you can download the level app on your phone.

What do you think of our corner gallery wall? It was a challenge, but now that it’s up we are in love with it. Now I just need a new little reading chair for this corner & I will be really happy with it. Have you used the 3M command strips to hang anything?
