I mentioned in my DIY Ice bucket planter post that our living room was being over taken by the color brown. Brown rug, brown carpet, brown entertainment center, brown chair, & brown coffee table… It was getting bad. So I started operation illimiate brown. Now, of course there will still be some brown, I love neutrals so it’s bound to happen. The one thing I did need to change though was one of the large pieces of furniture. It was either the our DIY entertainment center or the coffee table & I ended up choosing the coffee table. I did ask a while ago on Instagram if I should paint the coffee table & EVERYONE said no, so I’m sure there will be some people who will not agree with me, but it had to happen for my sanity folks! The same week I painted the coffee table, I had also painted our stool in our dining room from Ikea grain sack from miss mustard seed’s paint line & I really liked the color, so I chose to paint our coffee table grain sack as well. & I think I like it. I didn’t take full photos of the table because I am waiting on the new hardware to get delivered, but for now here is a little sneak peek of the newly painted coffee table…

I was a little hesitant of using this color in our living room because I wasn’t sure if the grain sack gray/white color would just look like dirty against the white furniture. But so far so good, I’m actually loving the change. In case you missed it here is the grain sack milk paint on the Ikea stool in our dining room…

You can see the full stool makeover {here}. It’s funny, because I feel like the color on the stool & the coffee table are a little different, but they are both perfect for the piece that it’s on if that makes any sense. Milk paint is a crazy thing to work with & requires patience, but the finish is wonderful! If you are wondering, I ordered my milk paint through Refunk My Junk {here}. I will be giving the full coffee table makeover as soon as the hardware comes in, & I can’t wait to show it to you in the full living room space with the updated coffee table…

So, what do you think of the table so far? I’m thinking of adding some different baskets below, & of course new hardware, but I’m happy so far.
