I feel like I have a lot of decorative bowls that simply do not fit my decor style anymore. I didn’t want to throw this particular bowl out so I came up with an idea to update it that gave it a whole new look that earned it a spot back in our home again. This DIY book page rope bowl didn’t take too long to make & for me it was practically free because I already had the items that I needed. I have yet to put anything in the lovely bowl, it’s just sitting in our guest bedroom looking better than it ever did. The bowl before was not terrible, but it had a design on the inside, & wasn’t being used for anything at the moment. & nothing is safe when I have a glue gun in my hand 😉

This project was one of those projects that I sat down to do {a few months ago!} & just went with it, no photos, no thinking about it, just sat down while I watched a movie and crafted me a rope bowl. So I’m sorry that there is no step by step photos. For the rope, you can choose any size & get it from multiple places. I had a spool of twine laying around, but it would have been a lot easier with rope that was a little bit thicker because it is a large bowl. I simply wrapped the bowl in twine & hot glued in sporadic places as I went. I would recommend starting at the top, I did not & I have awkward ending points around the rim of the bowl that would be more hidden at the bottom. Just my two cents. For the book page part on the inside I simply ripped up pages in an old book that I had lying around {I believe it was a book about Hilary Clinton that I got in a free pile at a garage sale. hilarious} I used modge podge to apply the book pages inside the bowl, and used another layer of modge podge on top of all the pieces once the inside of the bowl was covered to seal the pages in. That’s it. You have yourself a DIY book page rope bowl.
