Mkay. So I have been a tad bit obsessed with making these cupcake stands forever now ever since I realized you can glue a candlestick to the bottom of a metal tray & make a sassy little stand. I made one a while back {here} for our bathroom & they are so handy. I wanted to make one for our kitchen to hold hand soap, dish soap, & a bowl full of wash cloths to reduce the amount of paper towels we use. This is probably the easiest, quickest DIY you can do, but it adds some cute and quirky decor to your kitchen & makes life a little easier & cleaner. & of course you do not need to use it for holding kitchen supplies, you can use it as an actual cake holder if that’s what you are in to 😉
To create the stand, I first spray painted the dollar store candle holder & metal tray with this Krylon Oil Rubbed bronze. I’m a little obsessed with this finish lately, you can see the fan I just used this spray paint on {here}. After the paint dried I used this scotch super glue that I found in the dollar section at Target & put it around the rim of the candle stick. I placed the center of the try on top of the candlestick & placed the spray paint on top of the try for weight & allowed the glue to try. Voila there is your cake stand. The Meyers clean day dish soap & hand soap are from Target as well as the bowl. The clearance section got me again!! Gosh I love Target. It’s my happy place. Ps. This radish scented soap is yummy, I would have guessed otherwise.
Do you guys have a stand like this in your kitchen? What do you use yours for? I have really been enjoying mine & also I have wanted to start hand washing the dishes more & using my dishwasher less. I saw your post via Pinterest. This is so cute and functional- I love it. I bought the same tray and candle stick and spray painted them last weekend. They look great! I am going to attach them tomorrow with super glue. Anyway, I love the bowl you got. I went to Target today but they don’t have anything like that. I was thinking of getting a custom made one from Etsy so I could get blue (my kitchen accent color) put in. Do you think you could give me the measurements of that little bowl so I could get something that same size. Everything I find is either too small, doesn’t ‘match at all or is too large so I think I have to go the route of custom made. Thanks!
