If there is one thing that I always need on hand in my home, it’s burlap. Given enough burlap I could probably rule the world. I got this only ottoman at a local flea market for $10 Here is a picture of the ottoman before that I took via Instagram…
Don’t get me wrong, I almost left this lovely floral fabric on this baby because I kind of loved the quirkiness of the pattern and the colors. Needless to say this piece wouldn’t have fit anywhere in my home so it had to change…
Why would they hide these cute little legs?? When I discovered the legs on this baby I knew that the skirt had to go. I started by ripping off the skirt using a pliers. That step was very simple & just required some muscle. After that I decided I wanted to make this a quick and simple makeover that could easily be changed if I found some new fabric that I wanted to put on this lovely ottoman. I had a roll of burlap laying around so I decided to use that. I wrapped the structure in the burlap & used a staple gun to secure the fabric. Now,I am not a professional & upholstering is still trial and error for me, but I love how rustic this turned out. I added nail head trim {found the upholstery tacks at Walmart for $.97 cents for a pack of 30} I added the nail head trim very easily using a hammer. I didn’t use any exact measurements, because again I wanted it to look old & shabby.
I’m sure this ottoman will rotate around our house, & it probably will not stay like this forever, but for now I’m loving this burlap beauty. It will be really easy to change out the fabric on this. Removing a few stapes with pliers & a flat head screw driver removes the upholstery tacks very nicely!

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
