About a week ago if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram,
You saw a sneak peek of this beautiful table that I worked
on with one of my best friends for her kitchen.
The table was a lot of work including lots of sanding, prepping,
painting, staining, distressing & sealing.
We needed to get it done in a hurry because her husband was
coming home from Afghanistan this past weekend.
{He came home yesterday & it was on of the most amazing homecomings
I have ever seen in my life… I am so happy he is home!}
So we got the table done in time for his homecoming & we had a lot of fun
working on it together. {I found out it’s a lot more fun painting with a friend!}
& now the table looks beautiful in their home….
The table & chairs before…
Well, we all know how bad I am at remembering “before” photos,
so here is the table after a lot of sanding & prepping.
 & here are the lovely chairs ready to get painted.
The chairs were painted my favorite white, Dove white, by Valspar…
& later they were lightly distressed for a shabby chic look.
 The base of the table was painted the dove white as well &
later lightly distressed. Please ignore our lovely little set up
in her backyard… we had no strategy, but we had a lot of fun!
The next step was staining the top of the table,
we used a dark walnut to really contrast with the white.
To seal the top we used water based polyurethane,
& voila.. the table and chairs were done!
I love the top of the table the most, look
at that beautiful pattern in the wood!
Sorry for the picture overload, but I seriously love how this
table & chairs turned out…

Hi, I own this exact same table! I go a great deal on it because the previous owner left it out in the rain!! It is all bubbled up and discolered in areas.
1.What grit sandpaper did you use??
2. What type of brush did you use to lay the polyurethane down with? (I have used disposable foam brushes and have not like the uneven coats I get)
3. Did you sand between coats?
4. Did you distress the bottom with antiqueing wax? If not what did you use?
I am fairly new to redoing furniture and look forward to hearing from you especially since it is the same table!!! Thanks
